Economic Development Projects Launched at Chamber

The Greater Federal Way Chamber launches new economic development projects in contract with the Washington Department of Commerce.

We are fortunate that our Legislative delegation understands and supports the Chamber’s work in providing resources for economic opportunity in our area of the south Puget sound region,” said  Chamber CEO Rebecca Martin.  “It is professionally rewarding to be part of a public/private partnership that shares the Chamber vision for economic prosperity.”
As the Chamber looks to enhance entrepreneurial and small business growth, market assessments of two industry sectors are underway with the Innovation Collective.  The innovation economy and placemaking reports will provide analysis of business acceleration in the industry segments of creative arts and natural resources.

The Innovation Collective is national firm that designs and deploys strategies and services to build strong economies and communities.

“Our work with the Innovation Collective will identify opportunities to develop innovation corridors with mixed-use capabilities to support business enterprises, community organizations, and related public organizations,” said Martin.

The Chamber is working with eImpact to continue the collection of data and economic information, including baseline demographics that impact the business climate.  Economic dashboards are hosted online and include information on job trends, housing workforce, education, skill sets and more.

eImpact, a leading provider of data visualization dashboards, recently merged as a division of Lightcast, a global labor market data and analyzation firm.

“Tracking economic data allows business and its partners to make strategic decisions for developing the workforce and reaching the marketplace,” said Martin.  “Our dashboards are updated monthly, quarterly, and annually which provides current information as a resource for economic growth.”

In addition to Chamber surveys and other outreach, stakeholder focus groups will be underway with the Innovation Collective through June 2024.  National and international vendors working on grant initiatives with the Chamber hold a UBI from Washington state.
