Wm. Richard Ludwig, MD
Chief Integration Officer
Medical Director, Uniformed Services Family Health Plan (USFHP)
Pacific Medical Centers (PacMed)

Chief Medical Officer
Providence ACO

Dr. Ludwig is board certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics.  He received his medical degree from the University of Michigan and completed his internal medicine training at Virginia Mason Medical Center.  He began his practice at Pacific Medical Centers in 1981 and has held several administrative positions including practice president, medical director, chief of primary care and medical director for quality.

With the recent PacMed & Providence affiliation, Dr. Ludwig’s role as the Chief Integration Officer is to preserve and identify opportunities to propagate PacMed’s care model and best practices into the Providence and Swedish systems, and vice versa.  He also works collaboratively to align Providence’s shared services to support PacMed’s care model, managing the pace and priority of integration efforts between Providence and PacMed and provides further oversight for the cultural work between the organizations.  This affiliation also provides the opportunity for PacMed to play an integral role in the Providence ACO, and Dr. Ludwig’s experience as the medical director for quality, positions him to serve as CMO. He will maintain his long term role as the Medical Director for the USFHP.

Dr. Ludwig is an active participant in the Washington Health Alliance, the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) and the American Diabetes Association.

For more information about Dr. Ludwig, please visit the PacMed website at www.PacMed.org.  You may contact Dr. Ludwig at (206) 621-4408 or rickl@pacmed.org.
