SUMMARY:Roundtable: City Center Access Project
DESCRIPTION:Interested in transportation infrastructure for Federal Way? Join us for a discussion on Federal Way's City Center Access Project at our next Business Roundtable.\n\n \n\nWhat's the Problem?\n\n \n\nTraffic on S 320th Street west of Interstate 5 (I-5) is set to increase by 1\,600 vehicles during the afternoon peak hour in the next 25 years. Federal Way is experiencing rapid growth that results in clogged local streets that back up traffic on I-5. Without a solution\, congestion will limit access and mobility on S 320th Street between Pacific Highway S and Military Road S and the ramps to and from I-5.\n\n \n\nWhat's the Solution?\n\n \n\nThe City Center Access Team set out to find a solution that will make it easier for people to travel into\, out of and around the City Center now\, and in the future. A successful solution will improve quality of life and the city's economic vitality by:\n\n\n	Improving mobility for people traveling by car\, transit\, bike\, or walking by decreasing congestion on S 320th Street \n	Maintaining or improving access to and from the City Center \n	Providing opportunities for traffic to travel around rather than through the city core\n\nYour Input \n\n \n\nAfter eliminating the option of new ramps to I-5 at S 312th Street from the study in June\, the City Center Access team continued evaluating options for a modified interchange with an overcrossing at S 324th Street and extended I-5 access ramps serving S 320th Street and S 324th Street.\n\n \n\nIn coordination with their partners at Sound Transit\, WSDOT\, FHWA\, and other local agencies\, they selected the S 324th Street solution as the proposed solution. The Team will present that solution to the Federal Way City Council on November 5\, 2019. The Council will then vote to confirm the solution in late 2019.\n\n\n\nIn addition\, the project Team is hosting a Community Open House on Thursday\, October 10\, from 5-8:30 p.m.\, at the Federal Way Community Center. You also can visit the online open house and share your comments until Monday\, October 14.
