DESCRIPTION:Join this Chamber as we explore the Economic Impact of Washington Wines. Washington State is the 2nd largest premium wine producer in the United States. Hear from Josh McDonald\, Executive Directors of the Washington State Wine Institute and from Dainis Svarcs of ABBE Vineyard\, Federal Way's only Winery. \n\nJosh McDonald is the Washington Wine Institute's Executive Director and brings to the job 12 years of Government Affairs work at our state capitol in Olympia. In his previous role with the Washington Restaurant Association (WRA)\, he built their local government program from the ground up\, providing restaurants with a voice and influence within city hall and their city and state agencies. He also carried several issues for WRA in Olympia\, including tourism\, food safety\, immigration\, the environment\, and business taxes and regulations. Josh also has 6 years of campaign experience\, running successful campaigns for city\, state\, and congressional candidates. He is a graduate of the University of Puget Sound and lives in Tacoma with his wife Chelsea Levy and his two boys Liam and Eli.\n\nDainis Svarcs has been in the industry for a number of years\, culminating in the opening of ABBE Vineyard and Winery. Dainis says\, "The planting and the harvesting of the plants is only one small part of this dream job of mine. A large portion is creating wines from what mother nature gives me to work with. Not until you taste the grapes do you have a true idea of what may come to fruition for the wine on your table".
