DESCRIPTION:Learn about upgrades and future expansion plans for regional public transit as we host King County Transportation Planner III Stephen Hunt\, Sound Transit Planner Eric Chipps and Government and Community Relations Officer Chelsea Levy.\n\n \nSound Transit is considering a robust new program of rail and transit projects throughout the region that may come to voters this November.  Working in tandem with Sound Transit\, King County Metro is developing a new bus network and supportive capital projects for the short and longer terms that will be highly integrated with Sound Transit's proposed projects. The symbiotic relationship between bus and rail is becoming very necessary as our region continues to grow and citizens expect attractive solutions for travel.\n\n\n\nComing this March\, Sound Transit will open rail to the University of Washington and Metro's bus system is to make significant changes to enhance riders? experience: ease\, more connections and travel time advantages for our region's transit system. Come join us for our March meeting to learn more about these projects and their benefits being considered for Federal Way and the three-county region.\n\n \n\nBy early summer\, Sound Transit will complete a regional transit system plan (ST3) for submission to voters in November\, while King County will finalize its long-term plan for investments in Metro transit service and infrastructure.   Both agencies welcome your help to shape these efforts that will improve mobility for current and future Puget Sound generations.\n\n\n\nAbout the Presenters:\n\nEric Chipps is a Senior Transportation Planner in the Office of Planning and Development.  He joined Sound Transit in July\, 2002.  He is currently the lead for South Corridor planning for Sound Transit 3 (ST3)\, the agency's plan for the next phase of regional transit improvements and served in the same role for the development of the ST2 plan which was approved by voters in 2008. Eric has over twenty-five years of transportation and urban planning experience.  Prior to Sound Transit\, he was a transportation planner at the City of Seattle where he worked on developing the city's first Comprehensive Plan under the state Growth Management Act. \n\n \n\nStephen Hunt has ten+ years of transit planning experience and has worked with King County Metro for the last seven years. He has a wide range of experience\, from working with non-profit service providers that utilize volunteer drivers to meet transportation needs of their clients\, to service network planning for the implementation of RapidRide services in King County. He has a master's degree in urban planning from the University of Illinois at Chicago where he studied public transportation. He is currently the project manager for the King County Long Range Public Transportation Plan\, he and his team have been working closely with city staff and regional planning organizations to help craft a shared county-wide vision for public transportation in 2040.\n\n\n\nChelsea Levy is Sound Transit?s Government and Community Relations Officer in South King and Pierce counties.  In this capacity she works with city councils\, chambers of commerce and other key stakeholders in the South Sound.\n\nPrior to working at Sound Transit\, Chelsea was an Urban Planner at the City of Tacoma and the Metropolitan Development Director at the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber. She is a life-long resident of the South Puget Sound area and resides in Tacoma.
