English Instructor (Tenure Track)

This is a full-time, tenure-track faculty position. Typically that includes teaching 45 credits and participating in departmental and college-wide activities. Salary is based on the negotiated faculty salary schedule. Initial placement typically ranges from $52,540 to $62,685 (depending on the candidate's qualifications) for a 9 month contract (170 instructional days).
- Essential Tasks
Teaching: Core responsibilities will include teaching and developing curricula for three classes per academic quarter, including College Composition, Preparatory College Writing, English 101 Plus Support, and Research and Persuasive Writing, as appropriate for the candidate's experience and expertise. This may include traditional, hybrid, online, evening, and/or off-campus assignments.
Service: Engage in department, division and college initiatives; participate in shared governance; promote the college's values and perform other contracted duties (for example, advising and community outreach) as required.
Professional development: Maintain competence in teaching and the discipline through professional development.

- Master's degree (or higher) in English, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution (pending degrees must be verified by a letter from the granting institution).
- Experience teaching introductory college composition
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
- Graduate-level coursework in composition studies.
- Demonstrated commitment/interest in composition and rhetoric (advanced degree in composition/rhetoric, publications, presentations, workshops, etc.)
- Experience teaching composition at a two-year college;
- Demonstrated training, commitment, interest and experience in one or more of the following areas: academic reading development, adult literacy, second language acquisition, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), or technical writing;
- Experience teaching web-enhanced, hybrid, or online courses;
- Bilingualism and/or experience learning a second language
