Join us as we welcome our speakers Tom Norwalk, CEO, Visit Seattle and Bennish Brown, CEO, Travel Tacoma.
Bennish Brown has been President and CEO of Travel Tacoma and Pierce County since June 2012. Travel Tacoma is the official destination marketing and sales organization for Tacoma and Pierce County, recruiting visitors for conventions and leisure travel and creating economic impact through visitor spending.
Out of the top things he loves about his job, it is always the opportunity to discover and experience the wonderful things in Pierce County, and the chance to spend time with passionate members of the local tourism industry. He is a newly elected member of the Board of Directors for the Washington Tourism Alliance, and serves as Vice Chair of the Washington State Destination Marketing Organizations Association (WSDMO). He is also a member of several local Lodging Tax Advisory committees. A native of South Carolina, Bennish served for 12 years as the Executive Director of the Rock Hill/York County Convention and Visitor Bureau in Rock Hill, South Carolina, before relocating to Tacoma. Prior to his nearly 15-year stint in tourism, Bennish spent nearly 20 years in the communications arena, working in radio, newspaper and public relations.
Tom Norwalk is President & CEO of Visit Seattle, the private, nonprofit marketing organization that promotes Seattle as a destination for leisure travel and meetings and conventions. Norwalk oversees more than 50 employees in the organization’s main Seattle office as well as sales offices in Washington, D.C. and Chicago. Norwalk is a hospitality veteran with extensive hotel and travel experience, ranging from international brands such as Westin and Four Seasons, to local industry organizations such as Seattle Hospitality Group, LLC and The Golf Club at Newcastle. He currently holds board positions with Washington State Destination Marketing Organization (WSDMO), Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Seattle’s 5th Avenue Theatre. He is also an Executive Committee member of the U.S. Travel Association.
