Find out about the big business of swimming as we welcome Mike Dunwiddie, Regional Aquatic Center Coordinator at King County Parks and Recreation Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center.
The Center is a world-class aquatic sports arena and regional training center. A legacy venue of the 1990 Goodwill Games, King County Parks operates the facility and maintains one of the busiest event schedules in the country including multi-state, national and international competitions. It has been the site of four Olympic Trials. Most major events are nationally televised.
In addition to community pride, the facility generates more than $7 million annually of economic impact from out-of-town guests. Team members travel great distances across western Washington to train at the Aquatic Center.
A third warm-water swimming pool provides recreation programs for the community.
